Algeria’s agriculture minister inspects wildfire damage in Jijel

Agriculture Minister Sid Ali Khaldi visited Jijel to assess the damage caused by the recent wildfires and review measures to support rural communities affected by the disaster.

Accompanied by Jijel Governor Ahmed Meguellati, local officials and security representatives, the minister inspected several affected areas as part of a coordinated effort to assess the extent of the agricultural losses and determine the most urgent needs of the region.

The visit focused in particular on the damage sustained by farmland, livestock and forestry areas, with authorities working to establish an accurate assessment of the losses suffered by farmers, livestock breeders and forest operators.

The government delegation is also examining the damage to agricultural infrastructure in order to identify appropriate relief measures, accelerate compensation procedures and support the recovery of affected communities.

The field assessment is expected to help authorities coordinate recovery efforts and provide targeted assistance to those whose livelihoods were affected by the wildfires.
