Finance Ministry Denies “False Claims” on Tourist Allowance Measures
ALGIERS – Algeria’s Ministry of Finance has dismissed as false reports circulating on social media claiming that the government had abandoned the new tourist allowance measures and reverted to the previous system.
In a statement, the Ministry stressed that the document attributed to it is a forgery with no official basis, reiterating that all official information is published exclusively through its authorized communication channels. It urged citizens and media outlets to verify information before sharing it and warned that legal action would be taken against those responsible for producing or disseminating fake documents.
The Ministry also recalled that Bank of Algeria Instruction No. 07-2026, which entered into force on July 19, introduced a new system under which the annual tourist allowance is granted exclusively through an international or dedicated payment card, replacing cash payments. The allowance is set at €750 for adults and €300 for minors aged 12 to 19, subject to the applicable conditions.
